As they say, if you have a dream, you will find a way to achieve it. Today, we are talking about Savin Lamba, a 25-year-old farmer's son from Fatehabad, who secured the 345th rank in the CGL exam. Remarkably, he achieved this feat on his very first attempt on Thursday.
Rather than focusing solely on the accomplishments of an excise inspector, this article highlights the inspiring journey of a "farmer father" whose son successfully passed one of India’s toughest exams, the CGL. Savin Lamba’s story serves as a powerful example for those who believe that the CGL is an unattainable goal for the underprivileged. This exam demands patience, perseverance, and unwavering determination to succeed.
Savin Lamba credits his father for inspiring him to keep striving, especially during moments when he struggled to balance his job responsibilities with exam preparation.
His father, Satbir Singh, owns eight to ten acres of land in Bhuna’s Hassanga village and attributes his son’s success to sheer hard work. The entire family, including Savin’s mother and elder brother—who holds a postgraduate degree in economics—takes immense pride in his achievement.
"For his primary education, Savin attended a private school in Bhuna city, Fatehabad. He topped his school in the Class 12 board exams," said Satbir Singh. Afterward, he moved to Hisar to prepare for the IIT JEE.
Savin pursued a B.Tech degree from NIT Kurukshetra, graduating in 2022. Through campus placements, he secured a job at a top company in Bangalore. In 2024, he was selected as a sub-inspector in Delhi Police. Although he initially took coaching for competitive exams, he later prepared for the CGL exam entirely on his own.
Now an excise inspector, Savin stated, "I want to set an example for others, and I will strive to contribute to my family and my nation."
Heartiest congratulations to Savin Lamba and his family on this remarkable achievement!
